About Nordic Distillery

On the property by the ice age gorge Hødal, sheltered from the wild winds, founder Anders Bilgram runs the microdistillery Nordisk Brænderi. Surrounded by deep valleys and rippling streams, the untamed West Sea, rolling cornfields and green forests, you will find both wildness and tranquility at the same time, and in this unique place, the love of Nordic nature and adventure has created handmade premium spirits.

The distillery

Originally, the good craftsmanship started with the production of exclusive and unique brandies and schnapps based on Nordic fruits, berries, herbs etc.

The spirits and schnapps are still a regular part of everyday life at the distillery, but Nordisk Brænderi increasingly produces gin, rum and whiskey for both the domestic and export markets.

What the products have in common is that only the best raw materials are used, which are selected, sorted and processed manually throughout the production process to ensure the best taste experience for the customer. The products are strongly inspired by adventure and Nordic nature. In addition, they are diluted with the good, local water from the distillery's own water bore.

The adventure

Anders is an engineer, a member of the Adventurers' Club and has a background as an adventurer and expedition leader in the Arctic on the Polar Passagen 2000.

And it was precisely in the biting arctic cold that the idea for Nordisk Brænderi arose.

Countless visits to warm-hearted people along the shores of the Arctic Ocean, where "junglebrew" or vodka was produced at several illegal home distilleries, have given the thoughts a push towards the realization of the freezing man's dream.

With chattering teeth, Anders has comforted himself at the thought of the finest premium spirit drunk from his wife's mouth-blown glass from her glassblowing workshop.

The craft

The distillation process takes place on handmade Müller copper stills from the Black Forest in Germany. Bernd Müller, who is the master behind these excellent Aroma stills, is the third generation in the company.

The stills are equipped with an Aroma purifier, which is designed to extract the flavor from the mash – i.e. that which is distilled on. This provides a unique and intense taste experience in the products.

Enjoy the variations and the authentic experience of sitting down with a glass of unique spirits.
